Alcohol makes us think we feel better when we have it. Alcohol helps us pretend that we feel good. When we feel insecure, a glass of wine will let us pretend that we are more confident. When we feel angry at a family member, a drink will pretend to calm us down. When we are bored with a conversation, a drink lets us pretend we are enjoying the company around us. When we feel depressed, another glass of wine will pretend to help our mood.
But all this drinking (and pretending) catches up with you. And guess what? You still have to deal with the underlying issues. Wouldn’t it be easier and faster and healthier to figure out a different solution from the beginning and drop the drinking part? That’s when transformation happens.
