Merry Christmas!

The holidays are a special time – a time to be thankful for all of our blessings, a time for sharing moments with our loved ones, and a time to give to others.  One word that comes to my mind is JOY – joy from the connection and love we have for others.  Joy is a feeling that we generate from our thoughts.  Joy comes from within; not from anything external.  If we feel joy from something external, it is because of the thoughts we have about the external thing.  Therefore, substances like alcohol don’t bring us joy – it is just our thoughts about drinking that can bring us the emotion (joy, relief, numbing out, etc.).

What did you say? Alcohol doesn’t bring me joy? Just my thoughts about the alcohol?

The mind is so powerful. And it can be easily trained.  I find this totally fascinating.

Joy is a feeling that we generate from our thoughts.

How are you training your brain? What story are you telling your brain to believe about alcohol?  Are you choosing thoughts that make you want alcohol or thoughts that make you not to want alcohol?  I say train it for the latter……it leads to such a better life.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
